Measurement of the e+e− →W+W− cross section and W decay branching fractions at LEP

From a total data sample of 701.1 pb recorded with ee centre-of-mass energies of √ s= 161–209 GeV with the OPAL detector at LEP, 11693 W -pair candidate events are selected. These data are used to obtain measurements of theW -pair production cross sections at 10 different centre-of-mass energies. W-band waveguide bandpass filter with E-plane cut.

In this paper, we present a design and measurements of a five-section bandpass filter with a passband from 96 to 106 GHz. The insertion loss is less than 1.4 dB in the passband, and the rejection is better than 40 dB in the range from 115 to 142 GHz. On e + e − → W + W − → 4f(+γ) at LEP2 ∗

The results on ee → WW → 4f(+γ) obtained by different groups are compared with each other.
